Typography has always fascinated me. While I have no formal education in type design, I enjoy experimenting with it for creative play. Figuring out what works, what doesn't, what rules there are, and why. Heiro Display is the result of one of those experiments. The project started as a reductionary exercise, distilling each character down to its simplest form based on key geometries before recognition and legibility were lost. The exciting part with challenges like this for me is when the work begins to outgrow my initial expectations for it and starts to takes on a life of it own.
